BQ24133 AVCC design in 1-cell 2-cell

Dear Sir,

We had saw datasheet reference design, VBAT not connect to AVCC in 1cell, but 2 cell don't need
Why 2 cell need it, 1cell don't need?
How about the function?

    Hi iehncent,

    In the 2 cell connection that is essentially a diode OR function, powering the device from either Vin or Vbat - whichever is higher. That is possible for the 1 cell configuration also. Just notice that the IC enters UVLO when AVCC = 3.6 V, which is the nominal voltage for a single Li-ion, so it provides limited use.
