Good afternoon,
I am using the bq28z610 fuel gauge in a single cell application and therefore I do not need the cell balancing feature. In the Data Memory page of the bqStudio software, I cleared the CB bit to green to disable cell balancing in the "settings... configuration...balancing configuration" menu. Based on the BAL_EN flag in the register section of the technical reference manual shown below...
...BAL_EN flag equal to 0 would prove that disabling cell balancing from Data Memory was effective.
The image above shows that the BAL_EN flag is "set" or "1" which means that it hasn't been disabled. This indicates to me that the write to memory was not successful, but when I requested a memory read, the value returned was what it was set to when I cleared the CB bit. In other words, the read operation would pull the old value if the write was not successful. So I guess my question would be, am I missing another step that would disable cell balancing or is this actually a trivial pursuit and I don't need to worry about it since I'm only using one cell?
Thank you for your time.
Blake
