Since your interested in a half-bridge, look into the UCC28251.

I happen to have a Unitrode design Seminar book dated 1985 (SEM400) that has a design guide for power converters and in there it lists the UC3846/47 as recommended fo "push-pull/full bridge (not half bridge)" and I have not found any applications that actually use this device in a half bridge configuration. In short, I would select another controller for a half-bridge
