Hi,

I use this device in my design and I have two questions:

1. I connect pin 20 (NC) to +5V (for compatibility purpose). Could I have problems?

2. The datasheet shows how to adjust the voltage level for channel 2 through a voltage divider. This voltage divider set the voltage level at REFIN2, using VREF2 for that. Can I use VREF3, instead of  VREF2, for setting the output voltage level?

    hi Fernando,

    sorry for the late reply, I just saw it...

    with reference to your question I would say:

    1) there should be no problem at all since the pin is NC (not electrically/phisically connected)

    2) you can see REFIN2 as FB2; this means you could use any reference you want to do that, but be aware that the reference at this pin has to be lower than 2V (or 2.5V, not sure), meaning you have to use a voltage divider from the external VREF you want to use to REFIN2. When you apply a voltage greater (for istance the VREF3 or VREF5 directly to REFIN2 then the VOUT2 is fixed, in according to the table 5 on page 33 of the device datasheet). In brief, yes, you can use any VREF you want but be aware that a voltage divider is needed from VREF to REFIN.

    PS: which processor/graphic card are you going to supply? if you let me know more about your app I could address better the topic...

    Hi,

    1) OK, I just wanted to be sure, because sometimes NC means "Do not connect".

    2) Thats what I thought. I asked because the datasheet gives to understand that you must use VREF2.

    I'm going to supply a IMX6Q processor. I use two TPS51427A for providing 1.375V, 1.5V, 2.5V and 3.3V.

    ok I see...
    well you would also consider the www.ti.com/.../tps65911.pdf for that processor (higher integration level, lower price than 2x TPS) but it requires more effort in configuring / programming it...
