BQ20Z6x-R1 Precharge Timer Reset

What conditions (if any) reset the precharge timer for determining a precharge mode timeout?

Thanks,

David Walker

The TRM's silence on this issue is because there are very few conditions that will reset the timer, all of which are mentioned in the TRM.

Experimentally, the precharge timeout resets in only two conditions that I've been able to find. First, it is reset whenever the battery is detected as requiring precharge. These are spelled out pretty well in the reference manual (for example the [CUV] flag gets set). Second, it is reset when the fault is cleared by putting the the battery in discharge mode.

Under what conditions does the timer run? It runs whenever the cell is in charge mode. Specifically, it starts running when the cell current is greater than Chg Current Threshold. It stops running whenever the current is less than Quit Current for a time of Chg Relax Time.
