BQ40Z50-r1 : CUV protection and precharge

Dear team,

Could you help me figuring out the best way to proceed when using BQ40Z50-r1 + BQ24616 (integrating a battery detection state machine) when the battery is discharged enough for the CUV protection to disable the discharge path ?

The current issue is that when CUV is active, the charger does not detect the battery until the CUV condition is removed and DSCHG FET is turned ON again. I suppose this could be linked to the fact that the charger is probably seeing an excess of 1*reverse FET diode drop + 125mA*precharge resistor ?

This takes a lot of time since the charger is then only charging through its battery detection state machine, at 120mA every few seconds.

Did you run into such issue before ? What would be your recommendations ?

I have some more information I could share but would prefer to take it offline.

Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

PA
