Switching frequency for GSM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR14030

Ho to everyone, what is the right frequency in buck converter for gsm module? A datasheet of one of this recommands a Fsw>750KHz. Is there a requirement for GSM ? Can I use a lower Fsw if I don't have problem of size?

  • This would be a question for your GSM module. What can they accept.

What is the input voltage, output voltage, and output current that you need?
  • Hi Chris, thank you for your cooperation.
I have need to realize a dc/dc converter to supply a GSM module. I have an input voltage of 4,5 to 24Vdc; I have thought to get an output voltage of 3,8V and 3Apk max (average 500mA).
I have seen the LMR14030 which can run up to 2MHz, but I have found the TPS54xxx family which are more cheap, but they work only up to 400kHz. My doubts are if GSM module needs a minimum Fsw to avoid troubles in the trasmission bandwith.

    Thanks

    Regards
