Ripples with BQ24040 over time

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24040, BQ24230

Hello,

I am experiencing at this moment with a serious problem with your component - BQ24040, while charging my battery (LI-PO 1000mAh 1C).

I do not know why this happens, this is clear off the shelves out of your factory.. and i aware of the fact that it contains voltage sensor and current sensing as well (the percentage of error of 1%)

I would be very happy to get a professional explanation on this issue because I have been going to another component - BQ24230 which is good  for charging in the world standard agreement..

It is very important for you to access the file that I attached on this subject to understand what I mean by that.

please see the attached file:

Thanks!

  • Idan,

It looks like the bq24040 is going though charge / recharge cycles. The "high" voltage levels are charging. This seen as the current increases to 200mA then decreases to about 50mA where the charging is terminated. Once charge is terminated, there is a load of 100mA (I do not know the source) that discharges the battery until it reaches its recharge threshold and the cycle begins again.

The bq24230 is similar, but there is no discharge load.

Check to see what the source of the load on the bq24040 setup is.

    Regards,

    Dick
