TPS54302 4V @ 3A low drop-out

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR14050, TPS54302

TI Team / Forum members

We have a requirement where we want to generate 4V @ 3A supply. 4V supply is required to power GPRS modem, 1.6A is peak current requirement. We want to have a supply that can source 3A to cover for any losses.

Our device has 36V input which will be connect with LMR14050 to generate a 5V @ 5A supply.

Design requirements for TPS54302:

Vin: 5V 5A

Vout: 4V 3A

We are concerned if TPS54302 is right product for a low a drop-out voltage of 1V.

As per datasheet:

7.3.10

To improve drop out, the TPS54302 is designed to operate at 100% duty cycle as long as the BOOT to SW pin voltage is greater than 2.1 V typically.

It will be great if some body can guide us if we are looking at right product.
