TPS23754EVM-383 EVM: T2P LED

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23754

Hello,

to what extend can the resistor R2 (6.49 k) be decreased in order to make the LED D21 brighter?

At 6.49 k the LED is pretty dim.

Best regards,

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

The goal of D21 on the EVM is to visually show the user that the a Type 2 PSE has been connected to the PD. You can decrease as necessary per the spec of the D21 to increase the brightness.

However, the main purpose in applying this pin is to let the load (on the secondary) know that a type 2 pse is connected. Therefore you would normally use an opto. Please see page 32 of the TPS23754 datasheet that goes into detail of its design. Thanks!
