lm3478

our Vin=3.5v and Vout=5V. by following formula,

RSEN <(2 x VSL x fS x L)/(Vo - (2 x VIN)), right hand side will be negative, then what should be Rsense and is external solpe compensation necessary?

  • Hello Akanksha.

External slope compensation is not necessary.

The kind of instability checked by this equation only applies to systems in which duty factor is greater than 50%. Systems with less than 50% duty do not become unstable due to the current mode loop alone being unstable. If the value for RSEN from this equation is negative than Vout < 2 * VIN which means that duty factor less than 50%. You can use resistor values calculated using equations 16 through 19 in the datasheet. The datasheet is not very clear about applying equation 21.
