LED DRIVER 12V-1A issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92210, TPS92314

Dear Mr,

i have design an led driver 1A - 12V, to use it  for our downlight, and it seems that the power is not stable  shall i use an integrated circuit to limit the current?

best regards,

  • I understand you have a 12V output at 1A, is that correct? But to help you best, or direct you to the right person could you please provide the following?

    1. Input voltage source and range.

    2. What IC and circuit are you using?

    3. If AC-DC, is triac dimming required? Also if AC-DC do you have requirements for isolation, power factor, and EMI?

    4. Do you need analog and/or PWM dimming?

If you can answer those I should be able to get you the help you need. Thanks.

  •  Dear Mr.Clinton

understand you have a 12V output at 1A, is that correct? But to help you best, or direct you to the right person could you please provide the following?

yes right and the output is 12V-1A

    1. Input voltage source and range.

     the input is universall 80-265V

    2. What IC and circuit are you using?

Could you help me by guiding me which IC is suitable for Driving led downlight / our cob has 3 strings in each strings there is 4 dies (Vf of dies = 2.8V to 3.3V)

    3. If AC-DC, is triac dimming required? Also if AC-DC do you have requirements for isolation, power factor, and EMI?

No dimming required / PF >0.7 / Isolated

    4. Do you need analog and/or PWM dimming?

    No

If you can answer those I should be able to get you the help you need. Thanks.

  • Thanks. I will get this to the right person.
  • Hello,

I would look at the TPS92210.  Isolated off-line designs will require a transformer design.  There are other options available also depending on what you would like your circuit to look like.

    Thanks,

  • Hi clinton,

Thank you fo your reply my other issue is :

if i have already a driver 12V-1A (12w) and i want to run for example one spot 4w-12v (0.33A) is there any solution to limit the current (internal led protection).

if yes i need the required ic and topology to use for :

    4w-12V
    8w-12V
    12w-12V
    24w-12V

    best regards,

  • Hello,

If you use the TPS92210 you can adjust the current sense resistor on the secondary side. If you use something like the TPS92314 you would have to adjust the Risns resistor. The range you are looking at probably should be broken up into more than one design. The 24 watt will have a much larger transformer than the four watt.

    Thanks,
