TPS6030x EVM-170 Issue With EN

I have a customer who is using 1.0V for Vin which is within the specifications.

He has set the EN pin at GND in the circuit and the part is still operating.

He has removed R1 from the circuit so it seems that the part is operating even though the EN is set LOW.

The part should not operate in this manner. Am I correct? What could be happening?

Hi Richard,

Yes, for EN = Low the device gets disabled.

Was this measured on a new TI EVM?
Did you measure the voltage on EN to be sure it is 0V?

Michael,

The customer stated that his Vin was 1V and he also stated that EN was at GND.

This was a new EVM.

Does EN have any range for operation or does it have to be exactly GND to work? I would think that being close to GND would put the part in a power-down mode. Am I correct?

Have you verified the operation at this low a Vin?

Hi Richard,

thanks for your update.

Could you please ask for a scope plot of VIN, Vout and Voltage on EN?

To disable the device the EN needs to be connect to GND which is 0V.

I will get the information from the customer and send it to you.

So it has to be 0V? Thanks for this, but the data sheet seems to indicate that this is a logic input and that does not imply 0V. This might be the issue.

Hi Richard,
Yes it is.
Per spec in the DS it needs to be lower than 0.3xVin so lower than 0.3V in customer condition.
Connecting it to GND is a good way to prove the basic functionality.

I will wait for the customers feedback.
