TPS65132/about W and S version

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65132, TPS65132S

Hi,

Could you tell me about TPS65132?
My customer is considering TPS65132W or S.
I got a question from a customer.

Customer questions is :
1.Default sequence of TPS65132W and TPS65132S.

2.SCA and SDA pin terminal processing in not using I2C case.
(Customer is assumed that not using I2C.)

3.Is it correct in the following understand?
TPS65132S→Vpos=150mA / Vneg=150mA  (not Vpos=75mA / Vneg75mA)
TPS65132W→Vpos=80mA / Vpneg=80mA   (not Vpos=40mA / Vneg=40mA)

4.TPS65132S release schedule.

Could you give me your advice?

I will describe the required specifications of the customer.
・Panel:5.2inch LCD
・Vpos=5.4V(typ) / sourcec current=50mA(typ)
・Vneg=-5.4V(typ) / sink current=-50mA(typ)
・Vin=3.3V

  • Hello Yusuke,

    1) The default setting for the power-up sequence is described on figure 21/ table 6. They start-up simultaneously:

    2) If I2C is not used you can either set SDA/SCL to GND or to VI.

    3) I do not quite understand your description here. What do you mean with VPOS = 80 mA or not VPOS = 40 mA?
The TPS65132W can be set into two modes, smartphone (output capability is 40 mA) or tablet (output capability is 80 mA). On the S-version the output capability is set to 150 mA.

    4) I need to check this and let you know.

    5) The output current capability for your application is less than 80 mA. Here I would suggest to use the W-version.

    Best Regards.

    Ilona

  • Ilona-san,

Thank you for your kind support.
    I understand your explanation 1) 2) 5).

    -About question 3)-
    I apologize for any confusion.
Cusomer concerned that the ''Vpos current + Vneg current = 80mA'' in tablet mode.
Is it correct in the following understand?
◇TPS65132W:Vpos current max=80mA Vneg current max=80mA in tablet mode

I recommend the TPS65132W to customers.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Yusuke-san,

    3) All TPS65132xy devices are able to deliver 80mA on VPOS and 80mA on VNEG. The maximum output current is defined by the MODE bit. Either 40mA or 80mA on both outputs.

TPS65132S will be able to deliver 150mA on VPOS and 150mA on VNEG if the SYNC pin is set to high.

    4) We target mid of November as release date.

    Best regards,

    Brigitte

  • Brigitte-san,

    Thank you for your information.
I will announce the information to the customer.

Let me ask you one more thing.
Customers want the TPS65132 to start up in the order of 'Vpos→Vneg'.
    However,default SEQU [5:4] Value(Power-Up Sequencing)→‘0’=Simultaneous.

When not using the I2C,Is there a way to achieve in the default setting state?
Coud you give me your advice?

    Best regards,
    Yusuke/Japan Disty

  • Hello Yusuke-san,

VPOS and VNEG have separate enable. So customer could have a delay between EN(VPOS) and EN(VNEG) to get the desired sequence.

  • Hello Yusuke-san,

    Are all your questions solved?

    Best regards,
