bq34z100-G1 cycle counter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2060

1. Which of the two cycle counters (CycleCount() CC through command code 0x2c/0x2D, or that in configuration data Offset 6) is preferred to read the number of charging Events ?

2. How can I reset the cycle Counter after replacing the batteries ? The gas gauge IC is separated from the batteries!

  • Reinhard
There are two Cycle Count parameters in the data flash and they should both get set to zero. You can export a gg file to change them. If you replace the cells, then you should reprogram the device with the golden file.

  • Tom,

the replacing of the batteries will be done by the customer, and our system just gets the Information from the host side that the batteries were replaced.

So we just can send a command to the gas gauge to reset the cycle Counter. With our older Version, with your bq2060, this was possible.

Is there no other way to reset the cycle Counter as to reprogram the chip?

This gauge does not have a command to reset the cycle counter. The command to read it is Read only. You will have to reset it in the data memory.

  • Hello Tom,

ok, this seems to be more difficult, but I will try to access the data Flash and rewrite the cycle Counter. Can you help me with the required sequence of commands to do that, please ?

By the way, I opened another post where I described a Problem with the FullChargeCapacitiy(). Can you have a look at this post as well, please ?

    Best regards
