TPS76950 vs REF5050 and dual output regulator (in 9V bat out %v usb and 3.3V MCU)

Hi

can a referance device (REF5050) be used as 9v to 5v regulator (TPS76950)

meaning can a REF5050 device be replace of TPS76950

if not way?

another question is there a single regulator that can get 9V battery power and dual output  5V for USB and 3.3V for MCU

thanks

  • Hi Natanel,

Yes, you can use a Reference part as a very low power regulator but this is usually not recommended due to the risks.  The linear regulator is a more robust part designed to operate into a dynamic load of widely varying impedance. The reference is designed to output a very accurate reference voltage and not designed to drive a load.

Regarding the "dual output" regulator, TI does not have a 9V version of what you are asking for.

    Regards
