Questions Regarding Current Scaling (BQ7692000PWR+ BQ78350DBTR-R1 )

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76PL102, BQ78PL116, BQ78350

Hi,

My new project is a BQ7692000PWR+ BQ78350DBTR-R1 solution for a 5S BMS.  This project is used to replac an old existing project (bq78pl116+bq76pl102). The real over current in charging and discharging threshold are 15.5A, the real short circuit in discharging threshold is 44A.

For the shipped prototype circuit boards,  during current calibration, I scaled current by 2. That means, during a 4A current goes through, we calibrated it as 2A, then bq78350 reported current as 2A. In my preliminary gg file, I scaled OCD, OCC threshold by 2 as well. Why I did this, this is because from other bq, like bq20z75, when hardware over current protection threshold is over +/-32A current register size, we got ASCD, AOLD protection issue before. So this time, during current calibration, I scaled current by 2, and in gg file, I scaled OCD, OCC, SOCD, SOCC threshold by 2 as well. But after the scaling, my customer got issue, as the customer device is released and making FW changes on that is end highly involved and unlikely.

Right now, my questions are: 1) ASCD threshold is 44, OCD threshold is 15.5A, SOCD threshold is 20A.If I don’t scale current, for BQ7692000PWR+ BQ78350DBTR-R1 solution, is it possible we get any short circuit protection issue? 2) if I scaled current by 2, is it possible bq78350 can report current by real current value, not the scaled value?  (for old bq78pl116, we scaled current by 10, but the bq78pl116 can report the real current value to outside).

Please advise.

Thanks!
