VOK issue and External Thermistor Issue

1) The document "Achieving The Successful Learning Cycle" says to enable the IT ENABLE and see the VOK and QEN is set. I have followed the same procedure with drained battery and left it for relaxation for 5 hour. But I can see the after IT Enabled, only QEN is set and VOK is still reads 0 (Green).

As per the recommendation in discussion, https://e2e.ti.com/support/power_management/battery_management/f/180/t/469992, instructed to IT Enable and send RESET command after the complete relaxation time to set the VOK and QEN to set. Does it means to click on the "Save DFI and Reset" button once the IT IT algorithm is enabled?

2) The BQ chip reads negative temperature with external thermistor connected. If the thermistor is removed, it reads actual room temperature. When I configured the Op Config [TEMPS] bit to 0 and it uses internal temperature and no issue.  If TEMPS - 1, temperature again reads negative (-33C). How to resolve this issue.

  • Hi Rajesh,

    1. I wasn't able to open your previous thread but I believe it is referring to the RESET command.

Here is another document about which may be useful to you:4540.LearningCycleOverview.pdf

    2. What kind of thermister are you using? It's possible the thermal coefficients for your thermister is different from what the gauge is expecting.

  • Now I am able to see the VOK and QEN bit set after the IT is enabled. I think the problem might be that after 5 hour, without seeing if RUP_DIS is cleared, I would have enabled.

During IC replacement, Technician has swapped 1K and 18.2K resistors in EVM. This lead to read the wrong temperature. I have corrected and now the module works fine.

    Thanks!
