TPS7A7001 Feedback Resistor Question

Hi,

In the old version datasheet there are no below words,

If the values in Table 2 are not used, keep the value of R2 between 27 kΩ and 33 kΩ. In Table 2, E96 series resistors are used.
For the actual design, pay attention to any resistor error factors.

A railway customer used the resistors R1 and R2, and both of them are below 1K, because if they use R2=30.1K, the output voltage is not stable when performing surge test, if they use much smaller resistors, <1K, the problem was solved. So would you please tell me if the smaller feedback resistors were used, what will happen? Can the smaller resistors(<1K) be used in this application?

Thank you very much!

  • Hi Wayne,

The resistor value recommendation is for best accuracy particularly over temperature. The customer may use other resistor values but the performance in their system may not meet some of the EC specifications. Please note that the EC table specifications have always stated 10k < R2 < 50k.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
