TPS65023 nRESPWRON

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65023

I have four prototype boards that use the TPS65023.  Three of the boards power-up, but one has an issue with nRESPWRON.  After the TRESPWRON delay of 128 cycles between 1V and 0.25V (for 100ms), nRESPWRON does not de-assert.  I have checked that the 10K pullup is correctly tied to 3.3V.  The other three boards do de-assert nRESPWRON after the 128 cycles.

Are there any know issues with nRESPWRON?

  • There are currently no known issues with the TPS65023 nRESPWRON function. If all circuit conditions are valid to make nRESPWRON de-assert (go high), the signal should go high in tDEGLITCH + tNRESPWRON. tDGLITCH is 30 ms and tNRESPWRON is set by the capacitor connected to the TRESPWRON pin. nRESPWRON goes high when the voltage on VRTC goes above 2.52V. nHOT_RESET must be high for nRESPWRON to go high. Note that nRESPWRON is an open drain output and must be terminated to a voltage rail through a resistor to operate properly.

Can you verify and send pictures of Vin, tRESPWRON, nHOT_RESET, and the voltage rail that nRESPWRON is pulled up to.

  • Thanks!  I hadn't considered nHOT_RESET.  There's a short on the board to ground on the nHOT_RESET line.  Not sure where yet - hopefully it's not an internal trace short (boards went through electrical testing, but I've seen issued before).
