Generation of VCC( 10 V OR HIGHER) and VDD (3.3 V) from solar panel

Hi,

In most of the TI reference design like TIDA-00476 and PMP7605, i have seen that the VCC voltage are getting generated from solar panel and VDD voltage is generated by taking VCC as an input.

My concern is, since microcontroller has to work during night too, so how come solar panel provide power to run microcontroller during night. Whether it will be good solution to provide power to some part of the circuit through solar panel and some part through battery.

Can anyone clear my doubt??

Hi Amit,

In the TIDA-00476, the auxillary voltage required for powering the MCU and gate drivers are derived from the potential between P+ and GND point. When the panel is not connected to the system, the battery voltage will appear between these nets.

So, in the night (or when the panel is not connected) the entire system is powered from the battery

Hi,

Since P+ and B+ point are shorted, so powering through P+ and GND OR B+ and GND means the same thing.
