TPS1H100 Current Limit Issues

Hi E2E,

I have a customer who has a setup similar to this post but with a current limit of 2.7A with a resistor on CL of around 950 ohms using the TPS1H100A.

One unit reliably trips at 1.5A after 5 minutes of power-on. It does not trip at 1.2A after 1.5 hours at 55C. It should be limiting at 2.7A.

Have you come across something like this before?

Hello, Sam,

Please double check whether the device is under thermal shutdown mode with a current probe. It seems the current is cut half due to the thermal shutdown protection mechanism.

Got data from the customer. You're right! We're looking in to ways to modify layout to get the heat out.

Do we have specs on thermal conductivity (degrees C/W) for the EVM setup?
