Hi Team,

I am working with the BQ20Z45-R1 where it never goes into Sleep mode even after sending the ManufacturerAccess Sleep command.

After digging into this issue, I found that changing the Wake Current Reg to 0 makes the BQ20Z45-R1 go into Sleep mode. Have you seen this behavior before?

A couple notes:

- The battery is non removable so NR bit is set to 1

- Sleep current is 10mA. Changing this to higher value does not help.

Hi Jared,

Have you reviewed the app note Configuring the bq20z40/bq20z45 Data Flash on page 64 is explains the conditions for sleep mode and waking mode based on battery current measured by the gauge. Writing 0x00 disables the wake function based on battery current measured by the gauge. Do you have a log of the currents when you send the sleep command? What is the state of the SMBus lines? What settings do you have for Wake Current Reg? What is RSNS set to? Can you provide a gg file for us to review?

It seems that there's some current above the wake current threshold based on your RSENSE resistor value. Try setting RSNS[1:0] to 1.

Hi Damian,

If the bq20z45-r1 is on my board, is it possible for me to hook the device up to EV software and obtain the GG file?

I will take a look at the RSNS values and current levels.

Hi Jared,

Yes you should be able to use EV2300 connected to your board and the bqEVSW to extract the gg file.
