TPS7a8300 Marign with Vout = 0.8V

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A8300

Hi,

Can the TPS7A8300 be margined when it is used for 0.8Vout (meaning there will be no bottom resistor for the divider)?

Thank You,

Mike

  • Hi Mike,

Do you know if they are trying to margin the voltage higher or lower than 0.8V? It is not possible to regulate the voltage lower than 0.8V.

We believe that it is theoretically possible to select a top resistor and then use a DAC to drive the FB node to margin TPS7A83; however, we have not done this. It is theory only at this point.

Another possibility, would be to utilize the ANYOUT pins. Again you could only margin the voltage higher.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi Ryan,

Ideally, they want to margin high and low but I have informed them that low would not possible due to device limitation.

How would margining work if the ANYOUT pins are being utilized?

    Thank You,
    Mike
  • Hi Mike,

The ANYOUT pins can be driven using external GPIO pins.  When you short an ANYOUT pin to GND, you add that pin's name to the output voltage.  When you release the short, the pin's name can be subtracted from the output voltage.

In order to have a 0.8V output all of the ANYOUT pins are floated.  As you can see in the functional block diagram, the top resistor is already in place.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
