bq34z100-g1 Learning Cycle and production

Is the learning cycle performed only when preparing the "golden files"? Or, is this something that should be done for each new set of cells?

If it is done only when preparing the "golden files", how does the bz34q100-g1 "know" when new cells are put into use?

This background to this question is a portable instrument where the cells will be replaced when it is determined that the diminished capacity due to age will not run a full data collection cycle.

  • The gauge can update Qmax and the Ra table during normal field learning cycles after the cells have been replaced. You should not have to update the firmware. The CycleCount will not get reset and will continue counting as discharges occur.
  • In this particular application, it would be unusual for the cells to be drained down enough for (what I think is required for) a training cycle. Most of the time, the cells are charged before deployment and are discharged about 2/3rds during use. And, then recharged.

In that scenario, would it be advisable for the cells to go through a full (manual) training cycle after installation?
  • Yes, you should implement a learning cycle after changing the cells to update Qmax and the Ra table. Otherwise, gauging is not going to be very accurate.
