Hi Elias,

I'm starting a new design on an USB charger spec 1.2.

I'm looking to use the TPS2546. There is a DCP Modes Selection: Divider Modes 2V/2.7V and 2.7V/2V

There is also the TPS2549 with the DCP Modes Selection: 2.7V Divider 3 Mode.

Are these two modes are compatible?

If not, can you tell me the différences?

The divider modes are a non BC1.2 detection methods used with "i" devices: Divider 1 supports 5W devices, divider 2 10W devices and divider 3 (used by the TPS2549) supports 12W devices. Depending on the "i" device model, multiple divider modes as well as CDP mode will charge adequately.

I will rephrase my question, If I use the divider 3 of the TPS2549, is it that means it will also support divider 1 and 2?

Hi Mario,
TPS2549 supports divider modes 1-3 and it will automatically switch to the divider mode based on the "i" device connected to it.
