LDO (for example, LP2951, ...) in drop out mode?

Hi,

My application needs the LDO with wide input range and low quiescent current, so I intend to use LP2951-33.

Also the LDO has a chance to work in drop out mode (right term?) when the input voltage is below 3.3V (of course I don't expect the LDO can output 3.3V, but I need the output voltage to drive some load at some lower voltage like 2.5V)

Wondering if this possible for LP2951-33? or any other choices as long as wide input range and low quiescent current

Hello Don,

Yes, the LP2951-33 device can work to regulate an output to 3.3V, or if the input is a voltage below 3.3V, as low as 2.3V across temperature, the device should work to output as high of a voltage as the dropout allows.

For example, if the input is 2.5V, then the output would be expected to be anywhere from 50mV to 380mV below 2.5V based on the loading condtions.
