SM72445 issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SM72445

Hi all

I have to make a board(PV Pannel -> Battery charger) PV pannel : 16.5V~21V(Power(w) Max Voltage~open circuit Voltage)

                                                                                                                        5.75~6.05A(Power Max current~short current)

I'm using TI SM72445 mppt / dc-dc controller

so I purchased an SM72445EVM board

While used under board I have a few problems.

first problem) The input and output are the same.

PV pannel Output Voltage = 18V

SM72445EVM Output Voltage = 18V(No LOAD)

A product that will operate should always be a connection?

Second problem)This may not be a problem.

I keep P1 open. What is the role of P1?
The EVM datasheet does not show its contents
Thank you for reading this article.
Best regards

  • KwonHyukJoo,

If the input and the output are the same, that means the device is operating in PM (Panel Mode) in which the panel is directly connected to the load (no load in your situation) so you are reading the panel voltage. This feature allows the system to operate up to 99.5% efficiency when the output voltage requirement is near that of the input voltage. This might not be the case when you actually attach a load.

Pin 1 is the reset pin which is active low. This means that if Pin 1 is pulled low, the SM72445 device will stop PWM output causing the system to stop. This pin should be tied to a high source if not being used to prevent false reset.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns or need any other support.
