PMIC requirement

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65023, TPS65262, TPS65070, TPS65287, TPS65218

Hi team,

I have a requirement below:

1. input 5v, output 1.1V(2A),1.5V(1A),3.3V(0.3A) 1.1V(200mA),1.8V(100mA)

2.we also wants to use I/O as the the controller, when press the pin the PMIC start after 1s, when press again(or press long time), the PMIC stop work.

Thank you.

BR

Frank

  • Hi Frank,

There are a few options based on your requirements.

The TPS65023 is a good fit for the power requirements, though the 1.1V @ 2A is slightly above DC specifications for this device (1.7A). It also does not integrate pushbutton, so they would need a simple digital circuit for control (an AND gate, some RC delays and a D flop for example). Same with the TPS65262.

The TPS65070 has integrated pushbutton detection, but also integrates a charger which they may not need. It is also only specified up to 1.5A. Alternatively, maybe TPS65287 with a couple of discrete LDOs?
  • Hi Frank,

One last option to add would be the TPS65218 which has the pushbutton detection and would be a bit more efficient than the others as it would use 5 DC/DCs instead of 3 DC/DC and 2 LDOs. However, it would require a custom part number to provide the default voltage / sequence requirements. To do this, there must be a sufficient business case and likely an NRE to cover the expenses of developing the new P/N settings, getting it set up in inventory, etc. If this seems like the best option, let me know and I will get you in contact with the correct PME for driving this.

  • Hi Kevin,

I have checked the datasheet of the TPS65218. The current may cannot support 1.1V 2A? Could you please help me check it?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Frank,

It can supply 1.1V at 2A. We cannot guarantee that it will meet all of the specifications at 2A but it is likely to meet most, if not all of them.
