Creating a .senc File Using bq20z45-R1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ20Z45-R1, BQEVSW

The part I am using is BQ20z45-R1 and I am wondering how TI recommends to create a .senc file for production.  I have been making changes to the .gg file, installing the .gg file on the battery, and then sucking out the .senc file.

  • Is this the way to create the .senc file every time I make a change?
  • What does TI recommend?

  • Hi David,

    1. You could suck out the .senc file as below procedure:

    •Fine Pro Screen;

    •Write SMB Command:00, Word:0f00, click write;

    •In the srec programming screen enter the path and file name for a new senc file.

    •Every time you change the gg file, you could suck out a new senc file. So save your gg file before progarmming.

    •Execute the program by sending SMB command 08.

    2. Below documents may give you some guidence for reference:

  • Is this the procedure that TI recommends? It seems odd to download the .gg file to the bq part and then suck the .senc file from the part. I would think the TI software Evaluation Software could give the .senc without having to download to the part first.
  • Hi David,

    Yes, if you want to suck out a senc file with bqEVSW, you should follow the procedure. The .gg file includes the configure information of your part and battery, if you don't download to the part first, your .senc file will have no contents of your configure information.

    If I misunderstand your meaning, please give me a more detailed description of the question.

    Best regards,
    Sammi
  • Sammi,

    You have answered my question. I just wanted to know the proper procedure that TI recommends. Thank you again!
