EV2400 firmware update fail

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ27510-G3, EV2400

Hi,

I've just bought an EV2400 to work with a BQ27510-G3. After setting up the I2C connection and installing bqStudio I was able to communicate wit the gas gauge, so the hardware seems to be ok.

The firmware version of the EV2400 was 0.05 originally, so I downloaded the EV2400_Updater_v0018.exe from the official webpage and tried to upgrade. My computer is Win7 x64 SP1.

I got this:

After changing my unicode file settings to English US (from Hungarian) as it was suggested here, I got this:

I tried to run the updater normally and with the -s option too. I tried another laptop, (with default settings and with US english settings), without success (inspired by this post).

Please help me: what else should I try? What other Windows settings may affect the updater?

Thank you very much in advance,

Attila

  • Hi Attila,

When i tried running with the -S option, i am successful.

    See screen shot:

Is that what you tried? Let me know if it is and still not successful and i will reach out to our tools team.

    thanks

  • Dear Onyx,

Thank you for your fast reply.

Yes, it is. The only difference is that the updater always opens up a separate window. So this is my result with -s:

    And without -s:

(I had to use a screen video recoder program, because the program quits so quickly that I could not press PrintScreen fast enough...)

    Thanks,

    Attila

  • I finally solved the problem: I get an old computer (there was some windows XP on it) and made a fresh Windows 7 x86 SP1 ENG install on the "new" machine with the default language settings: US english. (I did nor even registered the Windows yet.)
After copying a "missing" msvcr100.dll to the c:\windows\system32 folder, the upgrade went succesfully.

I know that this was a brute force solution, so if someone knows how to "tune" an existing operation system, please share the information.
  • HI Attila,

Thanks for sharing this. I drew our tools/firmware team's attention to this and they confirmed that this version of the updater does have problems with non-English Windows due to a python limitation. A new updater for the v0.18 will be updated online soon, but glad you got a work around to your issue.

    thanks
