I have used an Ev2300 with a BQ20Z95EVM-001 multiple times. I purchased an addtional EV2300, and it arrived yesterday. It was used once then stopped working. The BQ software cannot see the gas gauge. The only error is an occasional error that the device is not compatible. I contacted technical support over the phone, and they said I needed to post in the forum to see if someone could troubleshoot the issue or tell me the device is effective. Can someone help me?

Hi Niki,

Sorry you're having issues with your new EV2300. Can you tell us what version of the EV2300 is reported in bqStudio? 3.1r?

Hi Niki,

If the EV2300 version is 3.1c you should update the FW to 3.1r or 3.1m. See e2e post for EV2300 FW updater.

Hi Niki,

Sorry for the confusion. Here's the updater I've used and worked for me. Unzip the file, right click on the exe file and run as administrator (for Win10). Follow the instructions carefully in the updater wizard. Let me know if you have any issue.

It says an incorrect number of EV2300 boards have been plugged in, as though it cannot see the second board.

Hi Niki,

Are you sure you're following the steps precisely? You may have made a connection to a board before it was specified by the wizard. Can you try again from the begin only making the connections when specified.

Yes. We have tried it several times, waiting to plug each board in when specified.

We have gotten errors saying the incorrect number of boards of have been plugged in, error -1, error 772, and error 8

Hi Niki,

It's hard for me to visualize what's happening. Is there a way you can document with images what you're doing at each step. What windows OS is you PC using?

Hi Niki,

Did you connect the USB to PC and EV2300 (your previous EV2300, not your new one) as controller? Then connected SMB from the controller to the other EV2300 (your new EV2300 you want to update)? Which srec did you select in the data path? I recommend using 3.1r.

Hi Niki,

Sorry I'm not sure what the issue is. Maybe it's a driver issue. Please try installing bqEVSW (it should installed the needed drivers) on the PC you're doing the update of the EV2300 and try again.

Do you I have to request if from TI? That is the page that is showing up. Also it says it will take 1-2 days processing. I needed a solution last week.
