I need to create a 3.0V rail that can deliver 100-200µA of average current. The supply voltage varies from 0.7V to 1.5V and is only capable of supplying around 5mA max. I have no control over the power supply: it comes from another system from which my device harvests its power.
I assume that the regulator is going to always operate discontinuously with very low duty cycle in this application, pulling the inductor current from the input capacitor.
Given that I have such a low output current requirement, would it make sense to increase the inductor value, to say, 100UH, to reduce di/dt? What would be a suitable current rating for the inductor?
