We measured over current condition at the TPS61029.

Result is moved two operation current limit protection.

Situation①

When increase to 1.3A, Vout is decrease to around the 1V.

But the current is continue to flow around the 1.3A.

TPS61029 heat up(90℃) after a while.

Situation②

It suddenly becomes overvoltage when repeating low load and heavy load

The same state continues even if the electronic load is removed.

Vin：4.6V

Vout：6.7V

Iout：1.2A

TPS61029 heat up(90℃) after a while.

・Question

Could you tell me the operation of the TPS61029 over current limit protection?

could you share your schematic and pcb layout of this device.

the output voltage declines if the device trigger its current limit. if the VOUT falls below the VIN voltage, the device enter pre-charge phase. the output current is 100mA to 200mA level at pre-charge phase, which can be find in the datasheet "Softstart and Short Circuit Protection" sector.

I forget to tell you the condition.
We are using always down mode.
Because of it assumes the operation at the time of charging.
(When not of charging time,we will use 1 cell Li-ion battery.)

Vin:5.25V
Vout:5V

Question
Is it the same current limit operation in down mode?

Schematic and PCB are customer's.
So I will check to customer there is any problem.
