I have an issue with the Ra tables on a bq20z655-R1 gas gauge. I have programmed it with cell chemistry 2104 (LG INR18650F1L), and when I check the .gg file created, I find the Ra values are FF55 for all the "normal" Ra's and FFFF for the "backup" Ra's. This would indicate that he cell impedances are never updated from their default values. As the description of the Ra flag bytes says that they are recommended NOT to be changed, how does Impedance Track monitor the change in cells over life? Should I change the values to 0000 and 0055?

The FF55 and FFFF headers indicate that the Ra table values have not been updated in an optimization cycle. You should not update the headers manually. You will need to run the optimization cycle to update the tables and headers and use these values in the golden file for production. The Ra table values should then continue to update during normal discharge cycles as the cell age.

Thanks, Tom. I was hoping I could just change the cell chemistry, but I guess I need to cycle the pack again in order to get everything up-to-date.

OK, when I cycle the pack the first time the cell(n) Ra's update, but the xcell(n) Ra's do not. Once I cycle the pack a second time, everything appears to go to normal.

That is normal. The Ra tables alternate when updating. The gauge uses one while updating the other table.
