37V/450mA Boost LED Driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3429, TPS40211

Hi Team,

Our customer needs a boost LED driver, preferably with integrated switches and synchronous. Can you please suggest the best option? Here are the requirements:

- VIN: 6-8V

- Vout: ~37V

- Iled: 450mA

- Dimming feature

- Nice-to-have: synchronous (for efficiency concerns) and integrated FETs

Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hello Antonio,

What kind of dimming feature is required, analog or PWM dimming or both? We do not have anything in the LPP group that is synchronous or anything that is integrated with that voltage range capability. But at the duty cycles in question a synchronous converter would not buy you much efficiency over non-synchronous. Unless you need more features (let me know if you do) a good place to start would be the LM3429 or the TPS40211.

Is there any more information you could tell me about the application and how it will be used? It would help me give you better suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Clint

  • By the way, both of those devices have EVMs that are pretty close to those specs, maybe overpowered a bit. They would not need much modification to test with those parameters.
  • Thanks, Clinton! They have no dimming requirements so I will recommend the 2 devices above.
