800W~1.6kW solution of 80 Plus Titanium requirement

Guru 19595 points
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28950, UCC28070A

Customer is under reviewing below solution.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

・Bridgeless PFC + Phase shift Full-Bridge With Synchronous Rectification

・Input: AC 90~264V, Output: DC 12V

・1.6kW(200Vin) or 800W(100Vin)

・80plus Titanium requirement

・EMI:CISPR22 ClassA requirement

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there required 80plus Titanium solution?

Or is UCC28070A + UCC28950 require 80plus Titanium?

And, when in the case of output is 12V/133A, which below(① or ②) recommend?

①Secondary FET connect parallel(20 FET)

②Current(load) share for UCC28950×???

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

I would say the efficiency mainly depends on the power stage design: the components you choose, the transformer and inductor design, the layout, etc. It is possible for UCC28070A + UCC28950 to meet the 80 plus Titanium, but it is very challenging. You may consider totem-pole PFC.

As of the two options you mentioned, I don't see big difference in terms of efficiency. I would choose option 1 since it is much simple.
