What is the difference between TPS73101MDBVREP and TPS73101DBVR?

Hi TI Folks,

  Good day to you.

I would like to seek your help to understand what is the difference between TPS73101MDBVREP and TPS73101DBVR?

In datasheet, MPN TPS73101MDBVREP has mention:

1. Enhanced Diminishing Manufacturing Sources.

2. Enhanced Product-Change Notification.

3. Qualification Pedigree

Please teach the details of above, and is there any other difference?

best regards

Jiang WeiJi

  • Hi Jiang,

our -EP or Enhanced Products are targeting use in harsh environments and have more stringent controls on quality as they are sometimes used in Space or Extra-terrestrial applications. So to answer your questions above:

    1. This means we only use one wafer fab and one test and assembly site. Normally we like to dual source our fab and test sites to ensure we can maintain supply. But customers looking for -EP devices tend to prefer stricter controls.

    2. Sometimes datasheets changes that are very minor (meaning there have been no changes to the electrical characteristics tables) we do not always submit PCN's or Product Change Notifications to customers. However, customers desiring -EP products want to know if any changes at all occur.

    3. -EP products are held to a higher quality standard than the non -EP version

Additionally this TPS73101MDBV-EP is specified to work down to -55C whereas the TPS7301DBV is only donw to -40C.

    I hope this helps.
