TPS65950 USB wall charging issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950

Hi All,

We are working on TI-DM3725 and TPS65950 and facing issues with Battery HW charging, below are details:

  1. Testing USB wall charging
  2. Using and selecting automatic HW USB wall charging.
  3. Charge current is set to ~975mA using BCIIREF1 and BCIIREF2 registers, approximately same we are getting using the MADC conversion on ADCIN10.
  4. End of charge current is set to 346mA using BCIMFTH8 register
  5. CGAIN,ITHEN,TYPEN,MESBAT is set to 1 using BCICTL1 register.
  6. Using BCIMFTH1 and BCIMFTH2,we have set VBATOV4TH = 4113mV and VBATOV3TH = 4088mV,VBATOV2TH = 3732mV and VBATOV1TH = 2988mV
  7. Starting battery charging by writing BOOT_BCI with 0x32, after that enabled USBFASTMCHG using BCIMFSTS4 register register write is verified by reading back the same.

With above all setting we are observed current drawn from the charger is ~1.5A which looks like including device current consumption.

We have selected battery charging is ~975mA by setting  BCIIREF1 and BCIIREF2 registers but not able to understand why charging current from wall charger is more.

Can you please help us to resolve this issue.

Thanks,

Raviraj
