BQ40Z60 two cell setup

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z60

Good morning guys,

i have some problems setting up the gas gauge and do a IT tesistor table Update.

First of all is this the right order to program the BQ40Z60: 1) Firmware 2) Chemistry (i used 0x0109 Panasonic CGA103450A, is 0x0100 a good default if the Chemistry is unknown? ) 3) Data Memory

After this i did a calibration (meassured current and voltage are correct shown in BQ Studio).

In the Data Memory i set the following values:

1) Minimum Voltage Output: 4350

2) Voltage Resolution: 17

3) Design Capacity: 1950

Do i need to set Design Voltage (i think it would be 8400 for 2 cells), current thresholds (tapper current for example), termination voltage?

Also i set the current for charging to max. 1A (the device charges with 860mA).

The Gauge seems to work correct when it starts to charge. But it stops charging at around 8V and the Gauge jumps from 40% to 100% (RSOC) .

Did i missed something in the Data Memory?

Is it possible to find a better Chem ID with the collected data (RSOC jump).

Any advice or idea would be great.

Best regards, Patrick
