I am not sure that U4 and U5 have anything to do with the LM3429 dimming. That function looks to be take care of with the CSH (analog) and NDIM (PWM) pins. But I am not familiar with this particular design. I am trying to track down the correct person for you that can answer what function they serve and I will forward this on to them when I do.

U4/U5 is not used for dimming. The enable signal for the modulation inverted( Illum_ENz ) is directly given to the nDim pin to allow full current during integration. For understanding the complete operation of the illumination driver, kindly go through the application report available at
