Can I program a raw BQ20Z655-R1 with the EV2300? Or do I need the HPA169/BQMTESTER?

Hi JDrulia,

You should be able to program a bq20z655-R1 using a EV2300 and bqEVSW as long as you are able to connect the EV2300 to the SMBus lines. Take a look at section 7 of the bq20z655EVM manual:www.ti.com/.../sluu697.pdf.

Hi Ben,

I'm getting a NACK error when trying to use the bqEVSW. Could I possibly send you my schematic as a sanity check to verify that I don't have anything weird going on? My design mimics the EVM with a few small exceptions. I would appreciate any help.

Do you have a capacitor on your REG33 pin? I see you are using this regulated output for LED's. Is the current draw within the limits for REG33? Do your SMBus lines look ok?

I do not. I found that this was the issue. Once I placed a cap on REG33, the 3.3V out was solid and allowed the chip to run properly.
