BQ25890 circuit review

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25890

Hello,

One of my customer want to use TI's BQ25890, and request their circuit review if there's any potential problem.

The current swings to 2~30mA when do not connect the battery and switch open.

The register of BQ25890 is default setting.

Input voltage +5V and ground is directly connected to power supply through micro usb.

thanks,

  • Hello TS,

I see no issues with the bq25890 circuit. When no battery is attached, the charger tries to charge the small capacitor on BAT and goes between charging and termination, which is likely what is causing the current to swing. The charger also periodically requires current to issue a refresh switching pulse to keep the BTST capacitor and therefore the voltage on SYS in regulation.

Please let me know if you have further questions.
