PMP10491 - Transformer data/detail require

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP10491, PMP10506, PMP10545

Hello Sir,

This is regarding PMP10491 Reference design. I need Transformer data/detail so that we can evaluate with the board.

Gaurang Desai.

  • I have contacted the designer for details.
  • Thanks a lot for the reply. I can not believe that,  i will get a prompt reply.

Finally one more request, to be more precise is it possible to get a some more detail to construct a transformer with another size or to get a actual part what to do ? Please suggest constructive solution.

    Gaurang Desai.

  • That is all the information that I have available...let me see if the designer can comment.
  • The winding structure is proprietary. We may have a sample still. Can we know the customer, application and EAU before I give them out?
  • Thank you very much for responding in constructive way. Now I am considering PMP10506 for our design due to

1> we are developing Industrial PC,linux arm cortex A7 , 700 mhz. Here next version will be for quad cpu on linux platform.

2> next version will be Intel atom based product where we require 5V@6amp.

so we are going with PMP10506 ref design so that our both product can share same power design PMP10506.

3> We are also going with PMP10545 ref design for dual RS485 serial port, CAN bus and SPI isolation.

So we need same help and support for transformer design data or sample support for PMP10506 & PMP10545.

Your help will be highly appricciated.

  • I have forwarded your request. This falls under isolated converters which I do not directly support.
  • The PMP10506 design used a custom transformer.  Please see its specs sheet attached.  This transformer was initially designed for a different application, which needed more than the two windings.  You can use the specs sheet to either find an off-the-shelf transformer that has similar specs or get a new custom transformer designed for their application.

Regarding the PMP10545, the transformer is an off-the-shelf component that you can order from Digikey or other distributor.

Depending on the opportunity size we can provide different levels of support.

  • Thanks for the same. Main reason to go behind PMP10506 is excellent design and Perfect Test report. To achieve PMP10506 test report result , we need to have proper transformer detail , so that we construct the custom transformer with added 5V, 1amp winding. RA7160-AL data sheet misses inductance data for pin no 8 & 11.

If you can give us one sample RA7160-AL or proper detail with wire gauge, bobin size, dc resistance and inductance for all winding then we can construct with our own way to meet PMP10506 test report standard.

Our target quantity will be above 10K per Anum. To achieve original design test report standard, detailed Transformer data requirement is must, So please consider to support in constructive way.

  • Hello,

The transformer specs sheet that was provided earlier is the only documentation we have on this particular transformer.  We do not have information on the transformer construction details.  This transformer was only a custom prototype.

It is recommended that you contact your local Coilcraft representative and inquire about further details, or even sample transformers.

    Regards,
