bq28z610 Simplified Schematic

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ28Z610

Hi Team,

I am aware that the resistor on VC1 and VC2 are not the same in bq28z610 simplified Schematic. 100 ohm is on VC1 and the other is 5 ohm.

Could you kindly let me know the reason?

  • Hi, I apologize that no one has followed up with your question posted last year due to the large number of questions we got towards the end of 2016, please feel free to post a brand new question should you still need an answer instead of replying to this post. We will do our very best to respond in a timely manner to any new post you might have :-)

  • Ake,
The reason is simple. VC2 is both the supply for the IC and the voltage measurement for the other cell. During peak periods when data flash is updating or if the device is being programmed, the gauge will consume higher current and a relatively high resistor on value on VC2 will cause an IR drop on the IC and could cause brown out of the gauge if the battery voltage isn't high enough.

    thanks

  • Hi,

Concerning bq28z610 and VC1.   I am trying to interface to an existing battery pack with 2 Li-Ion 18650 in series.   We do not have a feed from between the cells  (VC1).     Can I use this BQ28Z610 and what do I do with VC1?

    Thanks

    Don

  • Unfortunately, you can't since you do not have a midpoint connection. The bq34z100-r1 will be a better fit for your application

    thanks
