fuel gauge for primary battery

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100-G1, BQ35100

Hello,

I want use a fuel gauge with a primary lithium battery and with a alkaline battery. I have to discharge the battery in 6 months and I have to have an error inferior of 5 %. I unknow the reference for the alkaline cell but the primary lithium cell is the LSH20 of SAFT. I found a question in the forum that the bq34z100-G1 can be use for the primary battery. If I replace the battery, the capacity resets you quite only it or needs it to make a specific manipulation?

I see that the BQ35100 is specific for primary lithium cell, is it possible to use with a alkaline cell? and if it is possible, the error for the gauge is it better that the bq34z100-G1?

Thanks

  • Micou,

Neither the bq35100 nor the bq34z100-G1 were designed to support Alkaline batteries, but they should be able to gauge them. You could definitely use the Accumulator mode on the bq35100. The SOH and EOS mode should work as long as we have a ChemID that will support your cell.
