Hi Team,

One of our customer is designing boost converter for below spec for automotive application and we suggested LM5121-Q1, LM5022-Q1 and TPS40210-Q1 for the application, but for all the devices the max output current is shown less than 20A in ESP, what to know what is the limiting factor for output current. LM5121-Q1 is more suitable for customer application as the device is having other additional features needed for the design. Even if these device is having enough gate drive current please let know what is the limiting factor for output current of 40A.

Input : 6V to 36V (with load dump protection upto 54V)

Output : 48V 30A

Hello

There are two factors limiting the maximum output current. One is thermal and the other is current sense resistor.

Component temperatures might be too high if you design one phase LM5121 to handle 1.4kW.

Signal-to-noise ratio might be too bad because you have to use very small current sense resistor value.

Thanks for the reply.
Need your help to design a power converter with below spec.
Input : 6V to 36V (with load dump protection upto 54V)
Output : 48V 30A
30A is peak current for 30us and continuous current will be 3A.
Please help with your valuable suggestions.
