BQ24195EVM-193_Battery Charger

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24195

Hi,

We are planning to interface BQ24195EVM-193_Battery Charger with i.X7 SABRE Board. For the same we are planning to connect the J3 only. Is there any other pins required?

Could you please brief any other connection is required? Please describe in detail how to test this EVM.

Please describe each step to power Up and ON these EVM.

Regards,

Meria Jacob

  • Hey Meria,

How are you planning on powering the bq24195 board? Is the i.X7 SABRE board providing the power to the charger?

In either case, you need power either from a connection to J1 (VBUS and GND), a connection to J2 (BAT and GND), or both.

A valid power source to turn on communication is one that is above UVLOZ which is 3.6V for VBUS connection, and 2.3V for VBAT connection.

Depending on your setup, you can find the power on sequence for each condition if you look at section "8.3.1 Device Power Up" in the datasheet here: www.ti.com/.../bq24195l.pdf

If you are using the OTG function of the part, you definitely need a BAT connection and you will be utilizing the PMID pin of J1.

    Hope this helps,

    Regards,

  • Hello Meria,

In addition to Joel's comments, please review the bq24195EVM User's guide, it provides the instructions on how to work with the EVM and chapter 2 provides instructions on how to set up and test the EVM.
