EV2300: EV2300 - No communication

Hello everybody,

I have an EV2300 board and a BQ28Z610EVM-532 board but I cannot communicate with the BQ28Z610EVM-532 board, the board is always undetected.

Here's my setup :

- The BQ28Z610EVM-532 is connected to the EV2300 through I2C.

- I have the drivers for the EV2300 installed (I tried both 32-bits and 64-bits versions on 32-bits and 64-bits computers). Those drivers were installed in admin mode.

- I have the Battery Management Studio software installed as well (also installed in admin mode).

I already tried to press the button on the BQ28Z610EVM-532 board to wake it up. The connected batteries are loaded.

This is the error I get each time.

Does anyone have an idea of what could be the problem (or what could I did wrong) ?

Hi Ben,

If you click OK, does the dashboard show not communicate? Try to click OK then press the button, refresh the register.

How do you link your battery with the board?

thanks for the quick answer.

I already tried what you suggest but it didn't solve anything unfortunately. This is what I get in the software :

The battery is linked to the board with the 3-pins connector (1N, 1P, 2P). Actually, there are two batteries (one linked between 1N (-) and 1P (+), the other linked between 1P (-) and 2P (+)). I'm pretty sure that the board is not broken since I have a voltage between PACK- and PACK+ and also because I have an exact copy of this setup and I have the same problem !

Hi Ben,

It seems that the EV2300 could communicate but could not read the battery information.
You could try to take off the battery, link a power supply like 3.6V to 1N and 1P, short 1P and 2P, try to see whether it could identify the battery.

Hi Sammi,
I can't really take off the battery since everything is set up in a box. Everything was working on the PC of a colleague but not on mine. Any other suggestion ?

I have the same com problem with the EV2300 on the Win10 but not on Win7

Could that be the problem?

Unfortunately, both computers I tried are running Win 7 !

Hi Ben,

Is your battery in a normal state? Have you tested the voltage of battery?

From the screen, the communication of the I2C and EV2300 are normal, so maybe something wrong with your battery.

If the communicate is abnormal, the I2C sign will be gray.

Hi Sammi,

I think my batteries are in a normal state. I measured the voltage and I have 3.38V for both batteries (I have 10000mAh 3.2V batteries).

After few second, the left panel grays out in the software :

Hi everybody,

my problem is not solved yet but I was wondering something else.

Is there a way to change the I2C address of the BQ28Z610 ? I would like to have 2 of those boards on the same I2C bus. I already looked in the datasheet but I haven't found something helpful.
