TPS4H000-Q1: TPS4H000-Q1 current per channel is beween 1.0A to 1.6A or is this the devices total ?

Hi,

I am investigating the use of the TPS4H000-Q1 can you please clarify whether I can source 500mA per channel i.e 2A total for the device? It is unclear whether the the specification of Imax / current limit of 1.0A-1.6A is for the device i.e. 250mA per channel or for (1A) each channel?

Hi Jarvis,

You can source 500mA per Channel, please tack care for your PCB thermal design and make sure that the condition didn't triggle the thermal protection. This is intrenal current limit if you connect the CL to GND, this setting is effective for ervery channel with 1A per channel, thanks!

As per my Spice modelling understanding, each channel(4) handles maximum of 1.6A in both scenarios.

a. Current limit set using external resister RCL

b. Current limit set by connecting CL pin to GND

To be completely clear, if I set a current limit of 250mA using a resistor on the CL pin, is this 250mA *per channel*? The datasheet needs to be edited to clarify this.

It would be great help if we bring more clarity in this regard in datasheet description.
